Building One Waterfront
A Speaker Series

The Trustees’ Boston Waterfront Initiative, One Waterfront, advances a bold vision for iconic, public open space on Boston’s harbor. Our goal is to contribute to the City’s quality of life by creating and managing significant parks that serve as world-class destinations, support diverse community needs and accessibility, bring value to Boston’s climate resiliency goals, and create financially feasible open space that has a viable plan for its long-term care. After several months of planning, feasibility studies, and deep collaboration with City, State, and private stakeholders, One Waterfront is getting closer to securing the first priority site candidate, while we continue to explore additional areas of the City for longer-term open space options.

Our team is looking forward to engaging with local communities, to both listen and share. As part of this, our 2020 speaker series, “Building One Waterfront,” kicks off on September 15, 2020, with “Designing for equity and engaging diverse communities.” This event series will bring together open-space visionaries, resilience experts, and champions of equity, to share lessons learned with Boston stakeholders, and the communities they serve.

Hosted by One Waterfront, the series is supported by presenting sponsor, TD Bank, through the TD Ready Commitment (td.com/tdreadycommitment). To join our mailing list for updates, click here. Questions? Contact our team here.

Founded in the City of Boston by landscape architect and open space visionary Charles Eliot in 1891, The Trustees is the nation’s first and the Commonwealth’s largest preservation and conservation nonprofit. We are the largest private landowner of protected coastline in the state, with more than 120 miles in our care. For more than 125 years, we have worked to preserve and protect dynamic natural and cultural sites--from beaches and community gardens, to farms, historic homesteads, designed landscapes, and hiking trails—for public use and enjoyment. Today we are working to engage a larger constituency of Massachusetts residents, members, visitors, and public and private partners in our work to help protect our fragile natural, ecological, cultural, and coastal sites for current and future generations as they face increased impacts and risks from our changing climate. Our Boston Waterfront Initiative, One Waterfront, aims to create and manage a series of parks in Boston offering increased community access to dynamic open space and recreational opportunities along the waterfront that can also help to protect the city from increased flooding and sea level rise.
